A sanitation facility or service is a system for disposing of human wastes, such as urine and feces, in a safe and convenient manner. A major cause of disease in households and across communities worldwide is inadequate sanitation, and improving sanitation is well known to benefit health. By referring to sanitation, we also mean services such as garbage collection and wastewater disposal that maintain hygienic conditions. In heavily populated areas, poor waste disposal can cause infections to spread, especially among the most vulnerable, such as young children, the elderly, and people with compromised immune systems. Daily exposure to a bad environment is also an effect of poorly controlled waste. It is not just humans at risk when feces accumulate in rivers and other waters: other species are also affected, posing a threat to the ecology.
A manual on homemade masks- Infected droplets from an infected person are less likely to enter the respiratory system through masks. A combination of heat, UV light, water, soap, and alcohol will be used to clean a protective mask thoroughly, reducing the possibility of inhalation, which will be essential to stop its spread.
Biodigester technology- As a result of polluting drinking water and groundwater, the disposal of human waste in innocuous forms is a problem in heavily populated and developing nations like India. In this environment, human waste contaminates drinking water and groundwater, causing severe aesthetic and health problems. Toilets are not accessible to more than 30% of Indians. Most rural households lack toilets, and most people defecate openly.
Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO) developed biodigester technology to deal with un-decomposed human waste. An eco-friendly process is used to degrade and convert human waste into water and gases. It is possible to use the gas generated for cooking/energy and for irrigation.
It involves bacteria feeding on the fecal matter inside the tank, causing the matter to degrade through anaerobic processes and releasing methane gas, which can be used for cooking, alongside treated water.
Environmental Hygiene- Pollution and waste materials affect the quality of air, water, plants, and animals, which are all interconnected. In addition to natural surroundings - air, water, plants, and animals - technological products like shelter, transport, and electronics also form part of them. Environmental considerations become increasingly important as energy, economics, and technology evolve.
There are two aspects to environmental hygiene, namely. The importance of household hygiene and community hygiene.
Clean Street Food Center (CSFH)- In addition to raising the quality of street food vending, Clean Street Food Hub aims to become a source of quality street food on par with food courts and established hotels and restaurants. Consumers will be able to eat safely and hygienically in their local area as a result of this.
Effluent Treatment- Effluents are biologically treated at the effluent treatment facility. Organic matter is abundant in the effluent. Water bodies suffer from the depletion of DO due to the direct discharge of effluent. For this reason, it is necessary to treat the effluent before it is finally disposed of in order to meet the recommended quality standards. As a result of this treatment facility, major pollutants are removed from the effluent.
Food Hygiene Rating Scheme- A Food Hygiene Rating Scheme is an online, transparent way for consumers to rate the hygiene standards of restaurants and thereby reduce the incidence of food-borne illnesses. It encourages consumers to make informed choices about where they eat out by allowing them to view ratings and scores.
Businesses that provide food to consumers, either on-premises or off-premises, may participate in this voluntary scheme. and they are rated according to the food hygiene and safety conditions they exhibit when inspected.
It is administered by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
Personal Hygiene- Keeping hygienic means protecting one's health and keeping one's life healthy. To maintain good health, personal hygiene must be practiced daily from morning to night, starting from the moment we wake up. Clean your body, hair, mouth, and teeth regularly, and wash your clothes frequently to protect your health. Your health is closely linked to your hygiene. The fact that germs can easily grow on unclean bodies and cause illness is well known. In just 8 hours, 17 million germs can multiply.
In order to maintain good health of the body, we should consume nutritious foods, keep our bodies clean, engage in regular physical activity, and have a healthy sexual relationships. The lack of cleanliness contributes to many diseases. Personal hygiene is responsible for diseases such as parasites, worms, scabies, sores, tooth decay, and diarrhea. Practicing cleanliness can prevent these diseases.
